CANDIDATE PRE-REQUISITES
Level 1 ASA
We are always looking for qualified pool helpers. The role that an ASA Level 1 swimming teacher is required to do is that of assisting in the teaching of basic skills to a small group of swimmers under supervision of a fully qualified Teacher / Coach.
Candidates will be expected to have an understanding of the sport and a basic understanding of appropriate corrections to common faults. The qualification is the first stage in a four level coaching structure.
Our swimming school is always running a variety of courses so once you have gained the invaluable experience of teaching children there are courses you can do to become more qualified.
Teachers are required to be 16 years old and are expected to have a professional and fun working ethos.
STA Beginners
To be a STA Beginner swimming teacher at O'Tooles you need to be 16 years of age or older and hold a NaRS Pool Safety Award or an acceptable equivalent.
The swimming school could ask you to teach up to 6 beginners, act as an assistant teacher and maybe teach larger classes or advanced skills under direct supervision of a suitably qualified swimming teacher.
